MathCon

MathCon 2021 is a week-long convention featuring interactive booths, fun activities, and informative talks from various speakers of different fields discussing applications of math in their respective profession. With a theme of Reset, this year’s MathCon will deal with talks beyond math as an academic subject and probe further into the applications of Math in fields beyond one’s expectations.

MathCon Throughout the Years

MathCon 2013

The very first MathCon, Math Conference: All Aboard, began as a series of seminars spread out over the course of three months. The first day held in December 2012 was themed New Perspectives, wherein former Ateneo president Fr. Jett Villarin and renowned Political Science professor Dr. Clarita Carlos shared about the presence of mathematics in their respective fields of expertise. The second day held in January 2013 was themed Into the Deep and featured experts who unraveled the applications of mathematics in finance. The third and final day held in February 2013 was themed Detour and focused on the applications of mathematics in the social setting, with topics revolving around poverty and population statistics, information technology, and Philippine education.
